ELA is seeking a dedicated and passionate Infant Lead Teacher to join our team. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to lead culturally responsive programs for young learners. You will be responsible for planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum while fostering an inclusive learning environment that supports children’s growth and development.
Responsibilities:
The Infant Lead Teacher holds a vital role in providing the very first classroom experiences for our youngest learners. This position calls for a deeply nurturing educator with a commitment to responsive caregiving, relationship-based care, and culturally grounded teaching practices. The lead teacher will:
Create a secure, stimulating, and emotionally responsive environment for infants ages 6 weeks to 18 months.
Practice continuity of care and attachment-focused routines (feeding, diapering, napping) with attentiveness and respect.
Implement a HighScope- or play-based curriculum grounded in infant development and equity.
Document developmental milestones and daily care using digital tools (ProCare, Kaymbu).
Partner closely with families to maintain open, affirming communication, supporting each child's cultural identity and caregiving preferences.
Maintain compliance with licensing, health, safety, and SPARK standards.
Mentor assistant teachers and support staff in responsive and respectful infant care.
Qualifications:
Step 8 in ORO
Current CBR number
Current CPR/First Aid, Food Handlers, and Safety Set
At least 50 hours of Infant Toddler training
At least two years of Infant classroom experience.
Fluent in both African American Vernacular English (AAVE) and English.
Proficient computer skills in utilizing digital tools for classroom documentation and communication.
A passion for early childhood education and commitment to creating a supportive, culturally enriching environment.
